1. Who We Are

ChatAstro ("we," "our," "us") is operated by Almedus Solutions Pvt. Ltd., a company registered in India at B 2302, Lodha Imperia, Tank Road, Bhandup West, Mumbai 400078, Maharashtra, India.

We are the "Data Fiduciary" under the DPDP Act, 2023, with respect to the personal data we process about you ("you," "user," the "Data Principal").

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, how we protect it, and what rights you have.

For users who joined our website before 3rd March 2026, this Policy applies to your continued use of ChatAstro from the publication date of this version onwards.

2. What Personal Data We Collect

2.1 You provide directly

Name

Date of birth, time of birth, place of birth (used to compute your Vedic chart)

Gender (optional)

Questions, conversations, and chat content you send to ChatAstro

Birth details of third parties (such as a spouse, child, or relative) that you choose to share

Account credentials (email, phone number, or social login)

Payment-related information (processed by our payment partner, see Section 5)

2.2 Collected automatically

Device information (device type, OS, browser, IP address, language settings)

Usage data (features used, time spent, screens viewed, errors encountered)

Cookies and similar technologies (see Section 14)

2.3 Sensitive personal data — important note

Birth date, time, and place — combined with name and gender — can uniquely identify a person. We treat this as sensitive personal information and apply additional safeguards.

3. Why We Collect It (Purposes of Processing)

We process your data only for these specific purposes, with your consent:

1. To provide the Service — generate Vedic chart readings, run AI conversations, deliver personalised insights

2. To improve the Service — analyse aggregated usage patterns, refine prompts, fix bugs, and improve quality and safety

3. To communicate with you — service updates, account notifications, support responses

4. To ensure safety — detect misuse, protect users in distress, prevent fraud, comply with law

5. To process payments if you purchase paid features

6. To meet legal and regulatory obligations

4. Lawful Basis for Processing (DPDP Act, 2023)

Our lawful basis for processing your personal data is your explicit, informed consent, which you provide when you:

You may withdraw consent at any time (Section 9). Withdrawing consent will end your access to most features.

5. How We Use AI and Large Language Models

This is important because ChatAstro is an AI-driven product. You should know:

a) Your conversations and questions are sent to third-party Large Language Model (LLM) providers (such as Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, or other providers we may use from time to time) to generate responses.

b) These LLM providers process your input under their own terms. We select providers with care for security and confidentiality, and may change them as we improve the Service.

c) Your birth chart calculations may be performed using third-party Vedic astrology software or APIs, which receive your birth details to compute the chart.

d) We may review and use conversation data, with reasonable care, to improve our prompts, evaluate system performance, and refine the quality and safety of ChatAstro.

e) Conversations may be retained for a limited period for safety review, debugging, and quality improvement (see Section [1])

6. Who We Share Data With

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:

LLM service providers to generate AI responses (Section 5)

Vedic astrology software / API providers to compute charts

Cloud hosting providers for storage and operation

Payment processors for transactions, who handle your payment data under their own terms

Analytics providers for aggregated usage insights

Crisis-support partners if a clear safety risk arises (we may surface information like helpline numbers; we do not share your data with helplines without your consent)

Law enforcement and regulators if required by valid legal process

Successors in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you

We require all data processors to maintain confidentiality and security comparable to ours.

Conversation data: retained for up to 12 months for safety review, quality improvement, and to provide continuity if you return.

Payment records: retained as required by Indian tax and accounting law (typically up to 7 years).

Anonymised aggregate data: may be retained indefinitely.

You may request earlier deletion (Section 9), subject to legal retention obligations.

8. Third-Party Data You Share

When you share birth details or information about another person (e.g., spouse, child, relative):

You confirm you have a legitimate personal reason to share

You are responsible for ensuring you have any necessary consent from that person, especially if they are an adult

For minors (your children), you confirm you are their parent or legal guardian

We do not generate readings that judge, diagnose, or expose specific behaviour of a third party

We do not retain third-party birth details longer than necessary to serve your conversation

We strongly recommend you do not share another adult's birth details without their awareness.

9. Your Rights as a Data Principal (DPDP Act, 2023)

You have the right to:

Access — request a copy of personal data we hold about you

Correction — request that we correct inaccurate data

Erasure / Deletion — request deletion of your personal data

Withdraw consent — withdraw your consent at any time (this will end Service access for most features)

Grievance redressal — contact our Grievance Officer (Section 12)

Nominate — designate another individual to exercise your rights in case of incapacity or death

To exercise any of these rights, email us at hersh@chatastro.ai with the subject "Data Rights Request." We will respond within the timelines required by law.

10. How We Protect Your Data

We apply reasonable security practices, including limiting access to authorised personnel only and using standard transport-level security for data transmission.

However, no system is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach affecting your personal data, we will notify you and the relevant authority as required by law.

11. Children's Data

ChatAstro is intended for users 18 years and older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal data to ChatAstro, please contact us at hersh@chatastro.ai and we will delete it promptly.

If you (as an adult parent or guardian) share your minor child's birth details, you confirm you have the legal right to do so. We process such data only to serve the conversation you are having and do not retain it beyond what is necessary.

In compliance with the IT Rules 2021 and DPDP Act 2023:

We aim to acknowledge grievances within 24 hours and resolve them within 15 days, in accordance with applicable law.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India (once operational) under the DPDP Act, 2023.

13. International Users and Cross-Border Data Transfers

ChatAstro operates from India. If you access ChatAstro from outside India, your data may be transferred to and processed in India. By using the Service, you consent to such transfer.

If our processors (LLM providers, cloud hosting) operate outside India, data may be transferred internationally. We require such processors to maintain protections consistent with Indian law

We use cookies and similar technologies for:

You may control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may affect functionality.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date. For material changes, we may notify you through the app, website, or other reasonable means.

Your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
